Faralda NDSM Crane Hotel Amsterdam

Extravagant luxury in lofty heights

Located in the centre of Amsterdam's creative Kunststad district, a spectacular accommodation experience awaits guests with an appreciation of the unusual: 35 metres above the ground three individual suites are stacked atop one another inside an old loading crane from the NDSM shipyard to form a small but very exclusive boutique-hotel. With the support of the Dutch Office for the Preservation of Historic Monuments, along with countless high-calibre project partners, Edwin Kornmann Rudi, real estate developer and professed connoisseur of young monuments, transformed the dilapidated industrial monument into a true solitaire gem through an enormous show of creative, logistical and financial strength.

The interior designers Edward van Vliet and Heidi Much provided the suitable furnishings for the new luxury hotel. Each of the exclusive private chambers whisks away the temporary residents to their very own world. For material, the creative duo was able to choose from the best of the best: With stakeholders like Grohe and Villeroy & Boch, the builder-owner brought top players from the international design industry on board. The fabrics for decorating these highly individualised rooms came from the Dutch textile manufacturer Chivasso, whose imaginative creations are appreciated by textile connoisseurs around the globe.
