With “CHARACTERS – The Red Thread Collection”, we present a series of eight exceptional designs displaying the creative personality of Staffan Tollgård. Each of the hand-tufted creations is unique in its artful combination of patterns, colors and techniques. Silk and New Zealand virgin wool are used for the yarns. /p>
Scratched – A TEXTURAL REVELATION
Scratched is a textural revelation. The myriad of imprints marking the surface form a new type of aesthetics altogether. The “scratched” layers reveal the fascinating composition that lies underneath: an artful mix of fine loop pile and skillfully cut-away sections.
Diamond – AN INDUSTRIAL REVELATION
Diamond interprets a very basic material in a surprising way. Knurled metal with its characteristic structure can be encountered throughout the world. It is not decorative or artful in itself. Yet when this usually machine-made pattern is painstakingly carved into wool, it reveals the essence of masterly rug making.
Beneath – A VOLATILE REVELATION
Beneath tells the story of the liquid core of our seemingly solid earth. The advanced techniques of JAB ANSTOETZ’s artisans allowe to translate the power of boiling lava into a very dramatic and fascinating carpet.
Drop – A DYNAMIC REVELATION
Drop is the proof that just a few drops of water can transform a plain surface into a work of art. Subtle carving techniques bring that very process to life, mimicking the gentle dynamic change as the ripples spread out to the edges of the carpet.
Surface – UNE RÉVÉLATION FONDAMENTALE
SURFACE explore la terre sillonnée et étudie la transformation des matières sujettes aux quatre éléments. Son aura un peu apocalyptique est sensiblement tamisée par les couleurs chaleureuses et par les parties bouclées luisant à travers les sillons.
Dissolve – UNE RÉVÉLATION TAMISÉE
DISSOLVE illustre comment le métal brut se transforme avec le temps. Avec une minutie presque scientifique et une bonne intuition pour l’art JAB ANSTOETZ a réussi à rendre le dégradé des coloris qui se produit dans le processus de vieillissement.
Splash – UNE RÉVÉLATION INVOLONTAIRE
SPLASH explore le jeu de couleur et de texture – et également la joie enfantine de faire du barbouillage. Les bords fraisés avec art rendent presque perceptible la tension de surface des gouttes de couleur. L’expression du design, forte mais réduite, est encore rehaussée par la soie luisante qui a été employée pour réaliser les éclaboussures.
Red Thread – UNE RÉVÉLATION QUI DONNE LES TENDANCES
RED THREAD est une métaphore devenue réalité. Son dessin est symbole des tournures et des rencontres qui parcourent notre vie. Le fil de soie brillante fraie son chemin en alternant ses mouvements entre allure lente et dynamique.
STAFFAN TOLLGÅRD – LE DESIGNER
L’expression scandinave « fil rouge » joue depuis plus de 10 ans un rôle central pour Staffan Tollgård dans son travail de designer d’intérieur. « Je l’utilise comme métaphore, pour décrire l’ADN de chacun de mes projets qui va à l’élément essentiel de toutes les choses qui finalement relient l’intérieur, l’architecture et l’environnement, », dit Tollgård. « Avec ma première collection de tapis je pouvais rendre tangible ce fil rouge. »
